Girl Board Member at Large Application
Are you interested in being a part of the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio’s Board of Directors and helping shape the future of our council? There is a special opportunity open to all Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors to do just that. Girls will get the opportunity to see some of the work that goes on behind the scenes at Girl Scouts, meet and work alongside board members and make an impact on Girl Scout policies, decisions and opportunities in the future.
Who: Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors
What: Girl Scouts of Western Ohio is looking for one or two girls to serve as members on the Board of Directors for a one year appointment. In this position, girls will join the board for regular meetings and participate in discussions and decisions to benefit the entire council. The selected members will represent girl members and have the opportunity to give input and participate in discussions about all issues that the board is facing. Girls who are selected will also:
- Be paired with a mentor from the Board of Directors. This mentor will meet with you at least twice, in person, to help you learn and practice your leadership and professionalism skills.
- Receive a full scholarship to one of the two Leadership Conferences. The girls will attend as board representatives and educate the participants on what the board does and has been working on.
When: Board meetings are scheduled for April 24, 2018 (in person); June 26, 2018 (conference call); September 25, 2018 (in person); November 2-3, 2018 (in person, board retreat). All meetings begin at 4:30 pm. Girls must be able to commit to all meetings.
Where: In person meetings take place at the Dayton Girl Scout office, 450 Shoup Mill Road. We can help arrange transportation for girls if necessary.
