About Girl Scout Cookies
When you buy Girl Scout Cookies, you feed joy and make a difference with every box.
Will your Girl Scout Cookie entrepreneur help the local hospital or animal shelter across town? Climb her first mountain? Start a nonprofit? It’s up to her and her troop. Proceeds stay local to power life-changing programs, experiences, and learning all year long!
When girls participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, they also develop important life skills—goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics—that will set girls up for success beyond anything they can imagine.
That’s why we ask you to buy the delicious cookies you crave from your local Girl Scout Cookie business pro—not from her parents. You’ll enjoy your favorite cookies even more knowing you helped her do all the amazing things she’s got planned for this year while also learning a ton along the way.
Our Girl Scout Cookie baker, Little Brownie, made the following statement on December 29, 2020 about the use of palm oil in Girl Scout Cookies:
The Associated Press (AP) [has] reported on the connection between Girl Scout Cookies and the palm oil industry.
We were made aware of this article in advance and, in response, shared a statement with the reporters that directly addressed our relatively small use of and commitment to sourcing environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable palm oil. As anticipated, Little Brownie Bakers and other leading consumer packaged goods companies were included in the story.
First and foremost, we want to stress our condemnation of child labor and any exploitation of workers. We continue to work closely with RSPO and other organizations to ensure suppliers adhere to our Global Supplier Code of Business Conduct and human rights policies, and we correct or terminate suppliers who do not.
Additionally, we recognize that palm oil remains an important topic for us and for our councils, and a complex one for the industry. As such, we want to affirm with our valued councils our current position on palm oil and where we’re headed in the future.
As a socially responsible company, our goal is to secure a 100% deforestation-free and exploitation-free palm oil supply chain, and we are working hard to make the complex shifts necessary to achieve this goal. Our future ambition for the Little Brownie Bakers portfolio is to extend our commitment to source only sustainable palm oil that is 100% RSPO Segregated certified to all Girl Scout Cookies that we produce.
We have already made significant strides and will continue to keep you informed of our progress as we continue on this journey.
