From planning a big event to the small special moments shared with the girls—all their efforts are appreciated and important to building girls of courage, confidence, and character! Each month, one volunteer will be selected in every region of western Ohio (North, Central, and South) for Volunteer of the Month.
The Volunteer of the Month receives:
Kelly Heintschel — North Region — Troop Leader, Troop Product Manager, and Service Unit Recruitment Chair — Troop 1449 — SU 120
Kelly is an outstanding Girl Scout Volunteer. She serves as a troop leader and Product manager for 2nd Grade Brownie Girl Scouts and volunteers within her service unit. Kelly organizes Girl Scouts for the local parades and has become the Recruitment Chair this year. She successfully helped start at least two new troops. When parents weren't sure they wanted to lead, she listened and encouraged them. She even invited them to attend her troop meeting so they could see how much fun leading a troop is! Kelly also came up with new ideas for recruiting, including passing out hot chocolate with Girl Scout info stickers on the cups at the Halloween and Holiday parades. Thanks to Kelly, Rambling River has met every recruitment goal so far this year.
Mary Ann Fisher — Central Region — Troop Leader and Service Team Communications — Troop 34485 — SU 352
Mary Ann has a very active multi-age level troop and keeps the Service Unit informed about meetings, opportunities for troops to fulfill community service, and age-level local and council events. She volunteered to oversee the Children's Corner Tent at the Clinton County Corn Festival. She is very active in our community and saw a need for something for the kiddos to do and participate in at the Corn Festival. We established this was Girl Scouts in charge of the Children's Corner Tent. She got a group of volunteers together, including girls and leaders, to come up with many different crafts that were easy for anyone to do. She spent many hours that weekend seeing to it that volunteers, including girls, were there for the three-day weekend to help share their love of crafts and bring smiles to many who participated. We also had a fun bingo game with everyone receiving a prize and a fishbowl toss to win prizes (no fish were used in this game); just FUN! Thank you, Mary Ann, for giving the girls another opportunity to give back to their community.
Bethany Jent — South Region — Troop Assistant and Service Unit Data Manager— Troop 4265 — SU 446
Bethany has a heart of gold and has stepped up to help her sister's Girl Scout troop and our service unit without hesitation. Bethany does not have a Girl Scout herself, but when her sister (Bailey Cooper) needed help with her troop, Bethany registered as a troop assistant and hopped right in. Her willingness to help did not stop there. Our service unit desperately needed a data chair manager, and Bethany stepped up to the plate and took on the challenge. Since taking on the role, our membership enrollment has increased, and she has streamlined new memberships to ensure there is no confusion about registering as a new Girl Scout.
Bethany's dedication is very much appreciated, and we are so grateful to have her!
