Who is Dr. Mae Jemison?
As the first African-American in space, she’s a trailblazer. She served as a NASA astronaut for 6 years and is an icon of the women’s rights and civil rights movement.

What is The Sky’s the Limit event?
It’s a fundraiser for Girl Scouts in Miami Valley. This is not a girl program but an event more geared towards community members who’d like to financially support Girl Scouts. We welcome anyone from the community who wants to attend this event.  As part of the event, we will have a small girl meet and greet with Dr. Mae Jemison which will be by invite only for a select amount of Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts.

Can I bring my daughter?
This is a fundraising dinner with a keynote speaker.  If you feel this will be a good experience for your daughter, you are more than welcome to purchase a ticket and have her attend. 

When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets for the general public go on sale July 1st. Prior to July 1, sponsorships and tables are available. These individuals will get priority seating. Currently, you may buy 1 ticket for dinner and receive 1 ticket for the VIP reception with Dr. Jemison for $500. The cost of individual tickets for dinner is $100.

When is the event?
The event is Thursday, September 26.

What is the event timeline?
4 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Invitation-only VIP Event with Girl Scouts
5 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Exclusive VIP Reception with sponsors and supporters
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. – Dinner with guest speaker Dr. Mae Jemison

For the general public:
5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Networking
6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Welcome and program begins
6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p .m. – Dr. Mae Jemison presentation and Q/A
7:30 – Event ends

Where is the event?
The event is in the Sinclair Conference Center (Ponitz Center), which is the main level of building 10.

Where do I park?
Parking will be complimentary if you park in the parking garage below building 10.

Those who attend the VIP reception have the opportunity to meet Dr. Jemison.

Sponsorships are still being collected but will be announced in various media platforms before the event and at the event.

How much are the tickets?
Tickets go on sale July 1. Tickets are $100.

What is the patch design contest for The Sky’s the Limit?
Individual girl members of Girl Scouts of Western Ohio are invited to design a STEM-themed patch for The Sky’s the Limit event, featuring astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison. The winning design will be created and given out at the event, which the designer will also be invited to attend!

What are the details of the contest?
Individual girls should submit a design that meets the following guidelines:

  • It must include “Girl Scouts of Western Ohio” “Dr. Jemison” and the year.
  • The design should fit into a three-inch circle or square.
  • Choose one color for the background and no more than five colors for the design.
  • Submit the design by July 15, 2019. Use of the Girl Scout emblem cannot be superimposed on anything due to GSUSA regulations.

Can someone participate who’s not a Girl Scout?
The patch design contestants must be girl members of Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.

What happens if we win? Is there a prize for runner up?
The winning design will be created and given out at the event. The designer of the winning patch will receive a patch and will also be invited to attend the event. There is no prize for runner up.
