Women of Distinction presents: Girls Change the World

Women of Distinction presents: Girls Change the World is a celebration of changemakers! Join Girl Scouts of Western Ohio as we celebrate visionary doers, thinkers, and leaders who make the world a better place.

Changemakers come in many forms.  That's why we will be honoring three types of changemakers this year:

  • Two current Girl Scouts (grade 9-12) who have worked for change in their communities.
  • Two to three women in the greater Cincinnati community who have worked for change on behalf of women and girls.
  • A corporate champion award to a company that has worked for change on behalf of women and girls.

Nominations are open through October 14, 2022.

Awards will be given in person at the Women of Distinction presents: Girls Change the World event on March 14, 2023 at the Queen City Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.

More About Nomination Categories
  1. A current Girl Scout, registered with Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, anywhere in the 32-county GSWO council (Cincinnati, Dayton, Lima, Toledo). She can be in a troop, a Girl Scout Juliette, or an individual who is registered in Girl Scouts through her school, church, or community center. We ask that the efforts you nominate her for be directly connected to the experiences she has gained through Girl Scouts.
If possible, the girl nominated should be available to attend the event scheduled for the evening of March 14, 2023 at the Queen City Club in Cincinnati, Ohio with a parent or a guardian. If she cannot attend, she should be able to participate in a video recording that can be played at the event. Girl Scouts can not be nominated by a family member.
The purpose of this award is to allow for girls who don’t have the means or support system to pursue highest awards to have equitable access to recognition and reward.

  2. A prominent woman in the community. She can be a volunteer, business, non-profit, corporate or civic leader who lives and or works in the greater Cincinnati metro area. In your nomination, please emphasize how your nominee has worked to bring about change in her area of focus or interest. You may nominate more than one individual. Please complete a separate nomination form for each individual you are nominating.

  3. A greater Cincinnati metro area corporation or business that has championed women in the workplace. This can be through hiring and training practices, mentoring, creating paths for upward mobility, increased presence of women in previously under-represented areas, presence of women in the C-suite, etc. Nominations for the Corporate Changemaker award should be submitted for the company as a whole, not an individual. However, please provide the name of an individual we should contact at the organization regarding the nomination.
This award is meant to be for a for-profit corporation operating in, or headquartered in, the greater Cincinnati metro area. If you are submitting a non-profit or other type of organization, please consider making this a nomination for the individual who is responsible for working for change through that organization.
