Now that you're a Cadette, you put the C in CSA! Discover unique and thrilling opportunities for older Girl Scouts. Talk with older Girl Scouts and alums about incredible opportunities such as CSAcon, Destinations, and Highest Awards. This year, there will be one thrilling Camp Cadette event —an overnight at Camp Whip Poor Will.

Volunteers/Caregivers are required to attend the event with the girls. There will be adult-specific learning opportunities to help you discover the unique opportunities open to older Girl Scouts.

Where and when will this event take place?

The overnight camp will take place at Camp Whip Poor Will, from 2 p.m. Saturday, August 22 - 10 a.m. Sunday, August 23. Camp Whip Poor Will is located in Morrow, Ohio.

Who can attend?

This event is for Cadette Girl Scouts (going into the 6th grade in the upcoming 2026-2027 school year) and volunteers/caregivers to these Girl Scouts!

I'm a Girl Scout from another council. Can I still register?

Absolutely! We welcome Girl Scouts from all over to join us for Camp Cadette!

I am a registered volunteer who would like to attend this event. My child is unable to attend. Can I still register?

Absolutely! This event is just as much for the girls as for the adult volunteers. Adults do not need a girl in attendance to come to Camp Cadette.

When will I receive our sleeping arrangements for the Camp Cadette Overnight?

Arrangements will be emailed 2-weeks prior to the event.

Adult Members

You will have the opportunity to attend:

Q&A with a panel of longtime volunteers and CSA troop leaders
An educational presentation on why Girl Scouts is essential for adolescent girls
Networking to build camaraderie and connections with other CSA volunteers
Mental wellness and relaxation activities

Will I be able to attend any workshops with my Cadette Girl Scout, or will we be separated for the whole event?

This event allows Cadette Girl Scouts to spread their wings and try things independently in a safe and welcoming environment. To help facilitate this environment, the adult and girl activities will be separate, but the meal times will be adjacent to allow for a chance to check in with one another.

Dress Code and What to Bring toggle arrow

Is there a dress code for this event?

This event will be outdoors at camp, so weather-appropriate clothes such as a T-shirt, shorts, and closed-toe shoes are encouraged.

What should I bring for this event?

You should bring non-aerosol sunscreen, bug spray, a refillable water bottle (filling stations will be around the event), and a ball cap if desired. You should also bring a light jacket or raincoat, depending on the weather forecast.

Dinner and breakfast will be provided at Camp Cadette Overnight - Camp Whip Poor Will, so you only need to bring snacks if medically necessary.

Girls and adults alike are encouraged to bring SWAPS to trade!

Cadette Girl Scouts are encouraged to leave electronics at home or with an adult.

Packing List: Dress and pack for the weather. Ohio weather can be unpredictable!

Sleeping bag and warm blankets if bag is light
Pillow
Twin bed sheet prevents the sleeping bag from slipping off the mattress
Refillable water bottle, with strap, to be used daily
Flashlight with extra batteries
Toiletries: Toothbrush and toothpaste, Lip balm
Hairbrush or comb
Hair ties (must be able to tie hair back for cookout)
Insect repellent, non-aerosol is recommended (i.e., Deep Woods Off)
Sunscreen and non-aerosol waterproof is recommended
Clothing/pajamas
Socks
Underwear
Raincoat or poncho
One hat or bandanna

Book to read during ‘Me Time'
Favorite stuffed animal
Battery Operated Fan (with extra batteries)

What not to pack:

Sandals or shoes that are open in the front or back (this includes sports sandals, such as Tevas, Chacos, or Crocs)

Electronic devices, including MP3 players, electronic games, iPads, and tablets

Hair dryers/curling irons
Bottles/glass containers/aerosol cans
Food/gum/candy
Valuables
Tobacco products, including cigarettes and lighters

Safety and Supervision toggle arrow

Will Cadette Girl Scouts be under adult supervision and within ratio during activity sessions?

Absolutely! Girls will rotate through activity stations in small groups with registered volunteers and GSWO staff serving as ratio. Registered volunteers and GSWO staff will also lead stations.

How can I contact my Cadette Girl Scout in an emergency, or vice versa?

All adults leading groups and sessions will have a phone or walkie for group communication. Girls or adults who need to contact one another can locate a group or session leader to reach the other party. Additionally, all activities will occur in the central part of the camp property so that all groups will be reasonably close.

Are there medical personnel on-site?

All event staff are first aid and CPR certified.

Do I need to provide a signed health form for my Cadette Girl Scout?

A health form is required for any Cadette Girl Scout being dropped off for Camp Cadette with no adult representation on the camp property during the event.

How will I be contacted if severe weather is predicted during the time this event is scheduled?

Anticipated changes due to weather concerns will be communicated within 24 hours of the event start. If the event is being canceled or rescheduled due to severe weather, communications will go out by 9 a.m. on the day of the event.

What is the procedure if severe weather occurs during this event?

If severe weather or the threat of severe weather occurs during this event, normal camp safety protocols will be communicated and followed
